BORNSeptember 15, 1857 Cincinnati, OhioWilliam Howard Taft was the second of five children born to Alphonso Taft and Louisa Maria Torrey. William Howard Taft in 1909 became the 27th President of the USA. He served only one term and was not well liked as president. He ran for re-election in 1912 but was soundly defeated receiving only 8 electorial voles (all from Utah and Vermont). After his term as president, he was appointed Chief Justice of the supreme court by president William G. Harding. (Read more about President Taft)
