Great Grandfather Paul Stillman Chapin - their son - borned 1799. He Married Sarah Harrison borned 1801, a relative of the 9th President of the -USA- William Henry Harrison (a sister I think). He died 1843. and she died in 1864.

Grandfather-Hiram Chapin was borned 1822 - died in California in 1879. He married Lucretia Keener, borned 1824. She died in 1856 in Texas. They were married in 1845.

My Father-Peter Keener Chapin was borned in Texas in 1849. died in Corona Calif in the Fall of 1932. He married Francis Jane Taylor Sep 10th 1871 at Anaheim California by the Rev. J. Bot. She died at Corona California June 10th 1918.

Deacon Chapin came over to the USA from England in 1600 some time. He was the first Chapin to come over here and is the fore-bear of us all.

This is the names of the brothers and sisters of my Grandfather Hiram Chapin (My Dad's Uncles and Aunts). There were 12 of them: (1)Mary Chapin (2)Hiram Chapin - my Father's Father (3)Paul Stillman Chapin (4)Elias Harrison Chapin (5)Martha Chapin (6)John Arnette Chapin - Cousin Hugo - Father (7)Josiah Chapin (8/9)Silas / Sallie - twins. Sallie was burned to death at the age of 3 years. (10)Franklin Marion Chapin (11)Alice Chapin (12)Katherine

Hiram Chapin-our Grandfather-also Grandmother Chapin were borned and reared in Knoxville Tennessee, Also married there. They then moved to Tuscaloosa Alabama, where Sally their first child was borned.

Hiram Chapin my grandfather took a complete course in Medicine, but never practiced as a doctor. He took a complete course in Law, but never practiced. He studied Astronomy but was never an Astronomer. I don't know what subjects, but he taught in a Blind School in Tuscaloosa Alabana-Their first child (Sallie)was born there, while he taught. They moved to Texas when Sallie was very small. Their next child was Peter Keener Chapin(my father) borned in Texas in 1849. Their third child a boy-they called Fielder Rector Chapin-borned 1851. Their fourth child another boy was called - Thomas Lee Chapin. He was borned in Texas in 1854- His mother died soon after he was borned. Feilder Chapin died in Texas-in the great-Typhoid epidemic.

My folks left Texas May 10th-1869- and got to California January 1870. The wagon train was called the Keener and Chapin train. They started with over a thousand head of cattle and got here with a hundred or so head. They settled in Anaheim, Where my Father- Peter Keener Chapin and my Mother Frances J. Taylor- got acquainted, and were married, Sep. 10th 1871. Their first child was borned July 27th-1872- he was named David Taylor Chapin, after his Mother's Father,-DR. David Taylor.

Lucretia Chapin was their second child. she lived to be 13 years old, and died with Diphteria, at Anaheim Calif. about -1887- sometime.

Hiram was their third child, he died in Texas at the age of 4 years. My Father had moved back to Texas, after they had come out to California- the first time, That is how Hiram was in Texas when he died. He died over night with some bad type of Malaria. Then my mother got her back up, and vowed she was coming home to California, where ther was no Malaria. They then sold out all they had, and got the money to buy train tickets and came back to Anaheim where my Mother had a home, of ten acres of land her Father had given her.

Her Uncle John (Her Fathers brother) had a wonderfull vegetable garden, when they arrived home. They then had all of the cabbage and other fresh vegetables they could eat. So my Mother got her health back and then she had us two last children.

Peter Keener Chapin borned july 28th 1884-at Anaheim. Helen Katherin Chapin (That is me - Nellie Chapin). Mama always called me Nellie because she liked the name of Nellie better than Helen borned May 22 - 1887 at Anaheim.
